Range of courses now available on any device to help upskill budding baristas.
Dublin Barista School (DBS), a leading Irish hospitality training company, has launched Europe’s first interactive online courses to help train new Barista graduates. Budding baristas can take online courses at their own pace, 24/7, on any device. DBS offers a range of online courses or blended learning through a mix of online learning and instructor-led programmes. All graduates receive accredited certification once they successfully complete the course.
Designed in partnership with the award-winning eLearning agency, Olive Group, the engaging courses can be taken on laptops, tablets or via the specially designed app. Learners are trained on how to weigh out ingredients, calibrate grinders, understand the roasting process, regulate temperatures and use ground-breaking brew methods to create Ireland’s most delicious coffee.
James McCormack, founder of Dublin Barista School, says, “Since we started in 2011, the emphasis at the school is on the science behind the perfect cup. We’re always looking to innovate when it comes to brewing techniques and delivery of training. And so, for the last year we’ve worked closely with Olive Group to create a set of interactive online Barista training courses. The courses are designed to cover everything from brewing techniques through to creating beautiful latte art. It requires hours of practice, so students can play, pause and rewind the videos until they nail that perfect flat white.”
McCormack says that the coffee scene in the UK and Ireland is booming and that well-trained Baristas are highly sought after. “Our goal is to make sure that all our graduates leave here with a deep understanding and passion for creating amazing coffee. Beyond the technical aspects our training covers elements such as food safety, customer service and we even provide work experience behind the counter for a day. Our graduates are now working for a mix of independent coffee houses and international chains. We also offer week-long management courses to help those wishing to fulfil a dream and set-up their own coffee shop.”
